Alright, this handy tip i've learnt has definietly become a favorite of mine to use, especially when using my handwritten words. Sometimes the cuts you've created comed out a little to thin and are so delicate that even just looking at them they almost break :) So the solution? Just thicken them in your silhouette program! |
THE HOW TO:
1. Open the word/shape you want to work with.
1. Open the word/shape you want to work with.
2. Highlight the word and then press the 'offset' option.
3. Click the first 'offset' option - the one which looks like a blue donut, this will create a second line around your original word. Now don't freak out if the line is way off from what you wanted, this next part will fix the problem.
4. Using the offset distance section (below the 2 offset options), press the down arrow (in the cm box) untill you reach the desired thickness you want (here i've put it down to 0.040cm). If you go to far and your word becomes thinner than you want, just click the 'up' arrow in the cm box back to the thickness you want.
5. Clicky 'Apply'
6. Now simply select one of the words and drag away from the other and there you have it - a thicker word to cut!
