Ok, so I have been wanting to buy some sort of word cushions for my couch for a few years now. I've looked literally high and low in countless stores, searched online - found some -saw pricetag - ummmm no! So it occurred to me, why not try and make some? I have to say it was a lot easier than I anticipated and I am thrilled with the finish product. |
Things you need:
- some cheap pillows, one for each letter (mine cost $5ea from Kmart),
- some black fabric or craft paint
- some sewing pins
- scissors
- computer and a printer

Here's what to do:
1. think of the word you want to spell out - i went for 'comfy'.
2. on some A4 paper, print out the letters to the size you want.
3. cut out the letter to create a template.

4. place the letter template exactly where you want it on the pillow and keep in place with some sewing pins.
5. next get your black paint and starting on the paper- brush from the paper into the letter space.
* tip: place your spare hand on the paper as you work and gently push down so that the template is flush against the cushion, this will help prevent any "bleeding" at the edges.

6. keep going until the entire letter is filled in with paint, then leave to dry before removing the template.
7. wallah!..... you're done!!!
8. if you like, you can add some scrabble numbers next to the letter exactly the same way.
